# Update WA account Payment Method

This page guides you through adding a payment method to your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) in Meta Business Manager. Without a payment method set as default, your WhatsApp Bot will stop sending mes

### Before You Begin

* You must have completed the [Subscribe WA Webhook with BotPenguin](https://help.botpenguin.com/bots/whatsapp-bot/bot-setup/whatsapp-bot-creation-with-manual-onboarding/subscribe-wa-webhook-with-botpenguin) step.
* You will need a debit or credit card enabled for international payments.
* You must have admin access to your WhatsApp Business Account in Meta Business Manager.

### Step 1: Go to Meta Business Manager

You can reach the billing page in one of two ways:

**Option A — From the Meta Developer Dashboard**

1. Go to [developers.facebook.com](https://developers.facebook.com/) and open your Meta App.
2. Navigate to **WhatsApp → API Setup**.

3. Scroll to **Step 6: Add payment method**.
4. Click **Add Payment Method**. This will redirect you directly to the billing page in Meta Business Manager.

#### **Option B — Directly via Meta Business Manager**

1. Go to [business.facebook.com](https://business.facebook.com/).
2. In the left sidebar, navigate to your **WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)**.

### Step 3: Go to Billing and Payments

1. You will land on the **Billing and Payments** page.
2. Click **Add Payment Method**.

### Step 4: Select a Payment Method Type

Choose the type of payment method you want to add — typically a debit or credit card.

### Step 5: Enter Payment Details

Enter your card details as required and complete the verification process.

### Step 6: Set a Default Payment Method

Adding a payment method is not enough on its own — you must also set it as the **default** payment method. Without a default, Meta cannot charge the card and your bot will not be able to send paid messages.

To set a payment method as default:

1. On the Billing and Payments page, find the payment method you just added.
2. Click the **three-dot menu** next to it.
3. Select **Set as Default**.

Your WABA must have at least one default payment method at all times. If no default is set, message delivery will fail once the free conversation tier is exhausted.
