# Mem0

#### What is Mem0 Integration?

Mem0 integration enables your BotPenguin AI agents to retain long-term conversational memory across multiple interactions. Instead of relying only on the current conversation, Mem0 stores important user information and retrieves it when needed, allowing your AI agents to deliver more personalized, context-aware, and consistent responses over time.

***

#### Benefits of Mem0 Integration

* 🧠 Enables long-term memory retention across conversations.
* 💬 Delivers more personalized and context-aware customer interactions.
* 🚀 Improves AI response quality by recalling previously stored information.
* ⚙️ Seamlessly integrates with BotPenguin AI Agents through API-based configuration.
* 📈 Supports scalable AI experiences for customer support, sales, and automation workflows.

***

#### Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

* A **Mem0** account (Free or Paid)
* A **BotPenguin** account with access to the **AI Agents** module

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** Mem0's free plan is sufficient for most use cases and can be used to complete this integration.
{% endhint %}

2. Enter a name for your API key. For example:
   1. Mem0 Default Key
   2. BotPenguin Memory Key
   3. Production Memory Key

{% hint style="info" %}
This name is only used within your Mem0 account to help identify the key.
{% endhint %}

3. Click **Create Key**.
4. Copy the API key displayed on the screen.

### Troubleshooting

<details>

<summary><strong>Integration is not connecting</strong></summary>

Verify that:

* Your Mem0 API key has been copied correctly without any extra spaces.
* The API key has not been deleted or regenerated in your Mem0 account.
* Your internet connection is stable.
* You clicked **Connect** after entering both the Configuration Name and API Key.

If the issue persists, create a new API key in Mem0 and reconnect the integration.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Advanced Memory Retention section is not visible</strong></summary>

Ensure that:

* You are editing an **AI Agent**.
* Your BotPenguin workspace has access to the **Advanced Memory Retention** feature.
* You have opened the **Advanced Settings** section and scrolled to the bottom of the page.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>AI Agent is not remembering previous conversations</strong></summary>

Verify that:

* Advanced Memory Retention is enabled.
* **Mem0** is selected as the Memory Provider.
* The correct Mem0 configuration has been selected.
* The AI agent has been saved after configuring the memory settings.

Remember that only information matching your memory description will be retained and retrieved.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>API key was lost after creation</strong></summary>

Mem0 only displays an API key once after it has been created.

If you no longer have access to the key, generate a new one from **API → Create New API Key** inside your Mem0 dashboard and update the configuration in BotPenguin.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Exceeded Mem0 usage limits</strong></summary>

If you have exhausted your free plan limits, visit **Usage & Billing** in your Mem0 dashboard and upgrade to a plan with higher request limits.
