This section enables you to define how your AI Agent introduces itself and greets users. It lays the foundational identity and tone for your agent.

What is the Basics Tab in Agent Personality & Instructions

The Basics tab is where you define your AI Agent’s identity and first impression. From visual appearance to welcome tone, this section sets the foundation for how users recognize and interact with your agent across channels.

How to configure it

  1. Go to BotPenguin and log in to your account.

  2. Click on Agents from the left-hand menu and select your AI Agent.

  3. Navigate to the AI Agent Personality & Instructions section. The Basics tab will open by default.

  4. Choose your Agent Profile Photo by selecting from predesigned avatars or uploading your own image using the first icon (upload icon). This photo will be displayed in the chat window and landing page.

  5. Enter the Agent Name in the input field. This is the name your users will see throughout the conversation and in the agent header.

  6. Fill in the Agent Welcome Note with a brief message that introduces the agent and sets a warm, friendly tone.

  7. Select the Primary Theme Color that aligns with your brand’s color scheme. This color will reflect in message highlights, buttons, and the chat interface.

  8. Choose the Secondary Background Color to maintain design balance and contrast in the chat environment.

  9. Pick a Font Family from the dropdown to match your website’s typography or conversational tone.

  10. Add Ice Breakers—short pre-set questions like “Can I help you?” that encourage users to start interacting immediately. You can add multiple icebreakers and remove or reorder them as needed.

  11. Once all fields are filled, click on Update or Update & Next to save your changes and continue to the next configuration tab.
