What is Drip Campaigns?

Drip Campaigns are scheduled and structured sequences of messages designed to guide users through onboarding or engagement journeys over time. Instead of sending all messages at once, drip campaigns deliver predefined chat flows at configured intervals, ensuring timely, contextual, and progressive communication with users.

How to Use Drip Campaigns

  1. Log in to your BotPenguin account.

  2. Navigate to the required Telegram Bot Account from your dashboard.

  3. Click on “Telegram Automations” to access the automation module.

  4. Select the “Drip Campaigns” sub-tab (second tab in the Automation section).

  1. If no drip campaign exists, enter a Campaign Name when prompted and click “Continue”.

  2. On the configuration screen, enter the Drip Campaign Name to uniquely identify the campaign.

  3. Choose the Target Audience for the campaign:

    1. New subscribers or users who have recently messaged the bot.

    2. A specific group (groups can be configured from the Inbox section)

  1. Select the Chat Flow that should run as part of this drip campaign.

The first message of the selected flow will be the first message received by the user.

  1. Configure the time delay:

    1. Define how long after a user becomes eligible (new subscriber or group member) the first message should be sent.

  2. (Optional) Add multiple drip steps by clicking the “+” icon to attach additional flows.

    1. Each flow can have its own time delay

    2. Remove any step using the “−” icon

  1. Review the complete configuration and click “Create Drip Campaign” to finalize.

What is the difference between a broadcast and a drip campaign?

A broadcast sends a one-time message instantly or at a scheduled time, whereas a drip campaign sends multiple messages over time based on user eligibility.

Who can receive a drip campaign?

Drip campaigns can target new subscribers, newly active users, or specific groups created in the Inbox section.

Can I use multiple chat flows in a single drip campaign?

Yes. You can add multiple flows in sequence, each with its own time delay.

When does the first message of a drip campaign trigger?

The first message is sent after the configured delay once the user becomes eligible for the campaign.

Can I delete or modify a drip step later?

Yes. Individual drip steps can be removed or adjusted before finalizing the campaign.

Are drip campaigns supported on Telegram?

Yes. Drip campaigns are fully supported on Telegram, subject to platform messaging policies.

Can a user be part of multiple drip campaigns?

Yes, as long as the targeting criteria do not conflict, users can be enrolled in multiple campaigns.
